Fun at Crafty Club.

We didn't get much crafting done this morning in the Village Hall. Time was spent eating, drinking and laughing. Then we played Bingo. We had two birthdays to celebrate.
The Bingo prizes. I won a bottle of wine.

After lunch I took Billy dog out, then I set about making a small table for the hedgehog food shelter. This table top had metal fold up legs, but the mechanism wasn't working properly. I removed them and screwed four pieces of wood to it.
I cut four pieces of wood for the legs, and only managed to attach one when I ran out of time. It was starting to get dark, so I'll finish it off tomorrow. All wood is reclaimed timber found in skips.

Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

Speculation

The speculation continues. The Kate saga is becoming more like a storyline in Coronation Street or Eastenders. Where is she, why has she disappeared into thin air? The Main Stream Media are doing their bit to stoke up new conspiracy theories, because that's what they are good at. They probably do know the truth but are not allowed to report on it. They can't upset their paymasters. While valuable media space is being filled up with trivial gossip, the real important news is swept under the carpet. It's a smokescreen to divert attention away from what matters.

 The Sun. 17th March 2024

Read the articles and see that there is no hard evidence that she is out and about. They pack the articles out with old photographs.

Kate Middleton is spotted with William on a visit to her favourite Windsor farm shop looking 'happy, relaxed and healthy' as Princess of Wales takes first steps towards a return to official engagements after abdominal surgery.

I will add my speculation. This is based on what I read in lots of different places, not on what I have heard and seen on the tellybox. She may well have had an operation. When I had a hysterectomy I had to have six weeks off to recover, then I was ready to go back to work. Perhaps her operation had complications and she needs longer.
I think there is more to it than that. And this is speculation. Imagine if you fell for a handsome prince while studying at college, and he felt the same way about you. Then after a lovely courtship you started getting doubts, and decided to cool it and call it off. After a long chat with mummy and daddy, you decided to give it another try. The romance blossomed when you realised that you would have a lovely life if you married into his family. The dream will come true when you become a mother with your own family. The fairytale wedding made everyone happy. Three children later and the shine sort of wears off a bit. Reality sets in. You haven't met and married the love of your life, you have signed up for a job for life with a firm that will take over your life, with no escape. I think she has had a nervous breakdown, and wants out. This is my speculation.
Now I'm off to Crafty Club. We are having a bit of a celebration, it is Pat's birthday.

Let's make a table

Another strange weather day today. It was raining when I got up, and continued to rain until mid afternoon. Then it was like someone switched the lights and the heating on. The clouds disappeared, the sun came out, and it suddenly became very warm. What I thought was going to be an indoors day, turned into a jobs in the garden day.
This home made pallet table was on the gravelly seating area, where the garage used to be. I moved it close to the back door to provide some shelter to the hedgehog food I put out every night. When it rains the food goes all soggy and they don't like that. It has worked well for the last few weeks. The table is a bit too big so I thought I would make another one a bit smaller, and this one can go back next to the chairs.
I had another much larger pallet, so I cut it down to what I thought would be a better size, smaller than the other one. I misjudged that, it ended up bigger. So now this new one is on the gravel with the chairs.
The white tops are plastic panels that you line a shower or a wet room with. I found them in a skip ages ago. I knew they would come in useful for something. To screw into them I have made plastic washers out of bottle tops, so the screw heads don't disappear into the fragile panels. Luckily I didn't need to cut them to fit the table tops.

Now I need a plan B to make a smaller table for the hedgehog food shelter. I have an idea. I have some spare wood to make a frame, and a table top with wonky legs. It might work.

Sunday night is when some of the yoootooobers I am following publish their videos. I'll see what Janine and Liam are up to now they are back from India.

Catch ya tomorrow. Toodle pip.   ilona

Full of the joys of spring.

I wasn't going to post today, but as it was such a sunny start this morning I had to go for a walk. Of course, camera came too. I haven't done this route for ages. The mud is so bad during the winter months, it's not a pleasurable walk. It hasn't rained for a few days so it's not too bad now. The views across the River Trent are pretty spectacular.

The gorse and the daffs are sending the message that spring is here.

I can see South Yorkshire over there.
Throw in a couple of churches and the day turned out to be a good one.

Eight miles done and a lot of chatting. There was a man walking his dog. A couple from Norfolk who are staying in their motorhome on the caravan site. It's her birthday today so they are having a few days away. I called in to see my friend June, but I didn't stay very long. She has a cold so our conversation was very brief. A man overtook me on the last straight, he was walking faster than me, and he had walked further. A quick chat to a man I know in the village who cycles a lot. Always someone to talk to when you walk alone.

Enjoy your weekend. Toodle pip.   ilona

Lincoln Cathedral light show.

It is thanks to Ellie at Feltabulous that I went to see this last night. I checked the Cathedral web site and sent them an email, can I pay cash when I get there. The answer came back, we can offer you a 7.45pm slot, and you can pay in the shop. That's good, there is time to get in a three mile walk before I go.
It's about an hours drive, I always park on the roadside on Wragby Road. It's a wide road with no restriction, and ten minutes to walk to the Cathedral.
I got there in plenty of time, and tagged onto the 7.15pm queue. It was very busy. We were ushered around the Cathedral by volunteers in yellow vests. They set up a one way system. I went round once taking photographs, then again with the other camera for the video. Everyone was holding their mobile phones pointing upwards to get the best pictures.
The title was, Science by Luxmuralis. While a lot of people were maybe there for the science aspect of it, I was there for the amazing colours. Luxmuralis is a company that creates immersive and interactive light and sound shows in historic buildings.

The whole thing felt very spiritual. The only downside was the amount of people there. I like Cathedrals when they are empty, or almost empty.
Here is my video. There are many more professional videos on yoootooob.
The website for Luxmuralis is here.  They do amazing light shows in lots of different places.
I finished off the evening with a Magnum ice cream as I walked back to the car. So glad I went, an opportunity not to be missed.
Now it's the weekend. Have a good one, enjoy yourself. Toodle pip.   ilona
